First Blog

Ok, so it's nearly 3am and I should be doing anything but creating blog-material but, hey, I was distracted and my curiosity led me thus far and here I am, doing something I've been intending to do for a while - blogging.

Was it worth the wait, I ask myself, and you may be wondering the same, as I have yet to introduce myself and have not yet put a comprehensible / intelligent sentence together.
I'm Phil. I was once told (by a respected friend) that my writing resembled a cloud of purple prose, hence my blog name.

Well, I write what's on my mind and that probably does represent a cloud of unidentifiable moonwash, from which pours this meaningless drizzle, or do I mean drivvel.

I'm 40, father of two (7 and soon-to-be 4), married for 16 years, teaching for 11 and am currently a Primary Deputy Headteacher, but taking up a headship on 1st September.

The real reason for creating this blog was to use it as a platform for self-reflection and pontification, as I find this helps when what's in my mind really does seem like a cloud of purple, but I wouldn't call it prose...

So, watch this space, as they say, and we'll see if it really does manifest itself as a stage for intellectual rambling about leadership and management in the English state education system (I say English because it is decidedly different in many aspects from that of the Scottish or Welsh, much to the dismay of many professionals on this side of the borders between our country and the aforementioned regions).

I think I shall hit 'submit' now and see what this looks like - is web-logging / publishing really as exciting as it seems (I don't feel any different).

I only speak American. So, howdy. I rarely say howdy, but people seem to expect it! (Rame67 in Twitterworld)
